Sconnies Pub & Eatery was founded by Matt Hanson and Mike Forst, area natives that had a vision of bringing food, spirits and most important atomsphere to a great state they called home for over 30 years.

Sconnies Pub & Eatery was designed with you in my mind offering some great traditional Wisconsin dishes, Friday yellow perch fish fry, wines and brews.

Bar Review of Sconnie's Bar in Green Bay, WI

Replay Bar in Green Bay, WIEND - Wanna Be Bar, Tavern, and Pub Reviewer in Green Bay, WIBy END
    May 14, 2010
What a beautiful week! I know you can't see me but I'm totally doing a happy dance for the warm weather. I was having such a nice day playing with my dog outside that I didn't have the heart to drag her back inside just so I could go out. I tried to think of some outdoor patios that would allow pets to sit outside with you when I came across Sconnies. I called them up first to make sure and they said dogs on the patio are not a problem. My girlfriend and I raced up there (not going above the speed limit, of course) and grabbed the last patio table. Sconnies has four big tables outside covered by umbrellas on the side of the building. Although you can hear the traffic from Riverside, if you grab a table closer to the Fox River you do get a water view. It was a Tuesday night and there was a small wait for the patio after we arrived. Replay Bar in Green Bay, WIIt looked like no one wanted to be missing out on the warm day. We arrived just before 7 and to our delight the happy hour was still in effect. Score it. Its Monday thru Thursday 3PM – 7PM, double bubble. I ordered a vodka soda, my girlfriend got a gin and tonic and my dog got a dingo bone. The vodka soda beat out the gin and tonic for the better drink, but we were all happy. On draught Sconnies carries, Guinness, Spotted Cow, Stella, Blue Moon, Smithwicks, Miller Lite, Bud Light, Coors Light and Sconnie Honey Ale. If you're looking for a bottled beer, they have, Heinekien, Leinie's Honey, Leffe, Corona, Modelo, Miller products, Bud Products, St. Pauli, La Batt, Fat Tire, New Castle, Boddington, Woodchuck, Mad Hatter, Sierra Nevada, Shock Top, PBR, Bell's Oberon, Rolling Rock and Hacker Pschorr. As for the NA's you have your choice of, Odoul's and Amber, Clausthaler and St. Pauli. If any of those 1,000 beers I mentioned doesn't tickle your fancy Sconnies also has wine and a full liquor bar.

I did take a quick peek inside just to see what Sconnies looked like. The bar area was of decent size and there was extra tables just off to the side. Further in the back looked like the dining area. The tables were adorned with white linen and looked waaaay too fancy for my pup and I. Sitting outside at Sconnies and having a few drinks in the sun was an awesome way to wind down my day. Plus, it was hella cool to have my dog with me to enjoy the outdoors.

Green Bay Restaurant Reviews by Patricia SummerfieldBy Patricia Summerfield

Sconnie's is a new pub and eatery that occupies the space Cheffetta's had left vacant after their move downtown. I had assumed "Sconnie" was the proprietor's name, but I got a news flash from the waitress, apparently "Sconni" is a nickname for a Wisconsinite. Perhaps I am simply uninformed, but I had never encountered this nickname before. The name and the overall theme of the place is supposed to be one revolving around Wisconsin. The front has a small bar, a few tables, TVs, and sports paraphernalia throughout. At the time of my visit the crowd was very boisterous and loud due to a sports game on TV. My husband and I decided to dine in their rear dining room. It is a small room with large picture windows and a view of the Fox River. The room had a chill to it and as I entered I noticed a TV screen hanging from the top corner of a wall with a picture of a burning fireplace - too bad it didn't give off any heat. There were white linen table clothes and large clear vases with fresh flowers, but the décor was offset with rolled paper napkins. The place attempts a dichotomy of sports bar in the front and fine dining in the rear – unfortunately this attempt seems more like indecision. The menu had your usual sandwiches and burgers, a children's menu, and main entrées such as Prime Rib Oscar, Cedar Plank Salmon, and Grilled Fajitas. The servers were friendly and casual, just like their clothes – jeans and a red polo.

They have a very small and limited wine list and only one Wisconsin beer on tap, which was sold out and keep in mind it was only 5:30 pm on a Saturday night. They were also out of shrimp that evening and we had to request water. I ordered their Stuffed Medallions of Beef for $18.95 which includes your choice of potatoes, rice, or vegetable medley, a house salad, and cheesy dinner rolls. I chose the vegetable medley and my husband ordered the "Sconnie" burger with criss cut fries for $8.95. My salad was a nice size portion, cold and fresh. The cheesy dinner rolls were passable, but tasted bland and like they came from the freezer. My vegetable medley was a large portion served in a soup bowl and again tasted like it came from the freezer. The medallions of beef were stuffed with spinach, wild mushrooms, garlic, and cheese; it was topped with a peppercorn demi-glaze. The steak was tender and surprisingly delicious. My husband's burger was a 1/2 lb. Angus chuck with roasted peppers, onion, and parmesan cheese on a ciabatta roll. It was very tasty and his fries seemed, once again, of the frozen variety, but weren't bad. It was very noisy from the bar area and there was a woman with a particularly great set of lungs that kept screaming at the game. Hopefully Sconnies can find their niche and capitalize on their potential in the future.
