Allouez Cafe is a family friendly restaurant in Green Bay which has been open for over 30 years and many patrons have been coming in for almost as long. The food, service, and slower pace keeps loyal customers coming back. The cafe is known for homemade desserts, fresh coffee, dinner specials, and daily fresh baked bread - over 48 loaves a day of white, wheat, and raisin. In 2008 Allouez Cafe decided to go smoke free and install new carpet and a fresh coat of paint at the same time. Little else has changed at the cafe since its opening. Breakfast is served all day and continues to be one of the most popular items. Allouez Cafe offers low-fat dressings, sugar and butter substitutes as well as decaf coffee. Fish, baked chicken, meatloaf, tuna salad, and chicken salad are staples a this cafe.

By Patricia Summerfield July 3, 2009 Allouez Cafe and Restaurant is a family style restaurant that has been in business for 30 years and is located on the border of East Green Bay. It has a casual, comfortable, and friendly atmosphere with home style cooking at its best. They have many regular customers which frequently meet for good conversation over a nice meal or a cup of coffee. They also make their own bread and desserts. There are quite a few booths with nice hanging overhead lights that offer great lighting but not the glaring neon kind. Besides the booths they offer some tables and a counter for your seating options. It is a clean restaurant with different sports memorabilia with the majority being Green Bay Packers adorning the walls by the register hostess area.
It was a very hot humid day so I decided to order the regular size Chef Salad for $8.25 with a glass of their fresh brewed ice tea for $1.60 with a lemon wedge. I liked that the salad was not pre-made ahead of time, it was very crisp and fresh with nice bite size iceberg lettuce, shredded turkey, and ham with diced tomatoes, shredded cheddar cheese, and sliced boiled egg on top. The meat and cheese had a good flavor and there was plenty of it, but what I appreciated the most was how it was prepared. All the ingredients were mixed throughout the salad and not just layered on top. The dressing is served on the side in a paper Dixie cup and they give large amounts, also served with the salad is a rye crisp cracker. My ice tea was very good, there is nothing better than fresh brewed. When I heard that they make their own desserts I ordered the strawberry rhubarb crisp alamode for $3.85. The server asked if I would like the pie heated, a nice touch, and I said yes, I think it tastes so much better that way with ice cream. The portion of the pie and ice cream were very large and there was a little cinnamon sprinkled on top the ice cream. Not only did it look great but it tasted so good. The service throughout my lunch was efficient and friendly. Allouez Cafe also feature different specials every day.
